Friendly staff, great food and good breakfast, overall nice place to stay
Clean room with comfy bed, lovely food and pleasant staff.
I did not stay in the Somerton Room as it was not offered
Relaxed atmosphere, clean, adequate room, nicely cooked breakfast.
Could do with a bit of TLC, curtains dirty and hanging off hooks, carpets need cleaning, nothing major.
The bed was comfortable and the shower was nice.
The welcome was awful. Quite a gruff young man, he seemed like he couldnt be bothered. I didnt like the key system; our room key key was used to get in the main back door also, so surely that means that the same key opens everyones room door? ???? dinner awful!! Very small helpings, asked for full rack of ribs, got half rack. Not cooked properly, and I was vomiting for half an hour during the night - hence I didnt stay for breakfast so have no idea what that was like - we couldnt wait to get out of there to be honest.
We picked the Haymaker mainly because of the price and it was in a good location for what we wanted, which was to explore the Devon countryside and easy access to surrounding villages, such as Chard and Chardstock. The room we had was the Burnham which was at the rear, but had a wondrfull view. The food was excellent and good value including the tuesday special which was two T-bone steaks and a bottle of wine for £22-00.I must admit we do move around Devon and stay at certain locations, but I would recommend the Haymaker to anybody who likes a peace and quiet setting.
Nice clean room, private bath, good price, good place for rest. Big positive!
The proximity to the Dorset/Devon coast and the cost of the accomodation were prime factors in our choice. The room was spacious and fairly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good but not massive. We ate in the pub's restaurant one night and the food was good and good value! Overall, a good choice and would recommend for a short stay.
Friendly staff, excellent accommodation, excellent food, nice location.
The evening meal we had was very good, well presented and generous in proportions. The same with breakfast, nothing fussy but good wholesome food. The room was very quiet and adequately equipped. The en-suite was of a very high standard.
The steep staircase to the residents rooms. The people-skills of the staff could be developed for the benefit of older visitors.
Room and location very good
Food menu could have more of a range.
Clean comfortable room with a fantastic breakfast
Tv in room did not work and there was no clock in the room
It was an ideal location for us, we were spending the weekend at Smeatharpe Racing. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.Would recommenbd this Inn, and would stay there again.
The inn was very well presented and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely with a oak beam going through it. There was a good choice for breakfast and the English breakfast set us up for the day. We would stay at the Haymaker again.
Good size rooms. Excellent breakfast. We had an evening meal the first night which was first class
